Carbon Nanotube as Antenna for Light

I stumbled across this link (cache) on CNN describing the use of carbon nanotubes to develop an alternative form of solar panel. It occured to me (although I have not confirmed this) that this might be a perfect complement to the ongoing beamed power research - and that further development in CNT production could, as we say in Canada, "stone two birds with one hit."

Update on NASA's Centenial Challenge
By: ccampbell on: Mon 20 of Sep, 2004 [15:53 UTC] (4286 reads)
|
Michael Laine submitted this story some time ago (sorry for the delay in posting!! My bad...): "In case anyone doesnt know, nasa's centenial challenge is considering up to 4 possible competitions that could help the SE:
- strong tethers
- remote power beaming
- autonomous, long duration airship (maybe a tethered balloon design)
- harsh environment (cold and radiation) computing
but the program is under fire.... coincendentally, it was congressman mollohan from W.V. (brads former ISR patron) that put the breaks on the original vote a few weeks ago, and he was the same guy that helped cut NASA's budget increase...
Space.com story (cache)
so, cross your fingers. we want this to be passed.
take care. mjl"
